Madison Valley Manor
In the fall of 2013, Madison County hired SMA to write a preliminary architectural report in an effort to secure CDBG funds to upgrade the interior of Madison Valley Manor in Ennis, Montana. Since it was built in the late 1970’s, the facility had not been upgraded to meet current accessibility standards. Interior updates were needed to make the interior feel less institutional and more homelike for residents. The PAR and renovation design focused on upgrades to the nurse station, lighting, door hardware, including a complete renovation of interior finishes. SMA evaluated the interiors to mitigate issues with dementia patients. The entire process emphasized upgrades to improve the care, safety and quality of life to residents and the staff that serve them. The project received full funding from CDBG and finished construction in 2016.
The facility remained open and fully functional during the duration of the construction period. SMA worked with the Manor staff and the construction team to generate phasing plans and ensure safe conditions for all the residents, staff, and work crew for the entire project.
