MSU Residence Hall
Cooperative Health Center Renovation
Continuing our partnership with West Mont, SMA is designing a new group home for individuals with developmental disabilities. The new 6-bed group home will provide care for people with disabilities who have fluctuating medical needs and require more care than a normal group home can provide. Ron’s Place will be located adjacent to Caldwell House to provide its residents with easy access to 24-hour nursing care. Ground breaking is planned for summer 2014. The design takes care to blend in with its surrounding residential neighborhood.
SMA is working with Montana State University on the new four hundred bed freshman residence hall (targeting LEED Silver) in Bozeman, MT. Using a concept of "front door, back yard," SMA is creating an outdoor space to be used by all of the residents in the area. Interior spaces provide both active and quiet areas, including a fireplace, shared kitchen and laundry. The first floor connects to outdoor spaces such as a patio and exterior gathering areas, and the building and site design encourages biking by providing special storage, a bike repair room, and covered areas. Design is focused on educating residents about sustainable technologies by creating a sustainable community rather than merely a sustainable building.
SMA partnered with Bjerke Architects to design the Cooperative Health Center Clinic Remodel and Addition, which will begin construction this fall and winter. The project focuses on providing 18 new exam rooms, expanded dental clinic, and upgraded facilities to the community, enabling the clinic to expand their services and increase their number of patients. The project also includes an exterior facade remodel as well, tying the existing building design and finishes into the new addition.
